From 1/12 question and n7ybh: I just found out that my grandson’s other great grandparents had their house burn to the ground this morning. Only minor injuries, but great grandpa was just recently diagnosed with cancer. Please keep the family in your prayers. They are in their late seventies, early eighties, and had one of their grandchildren living with them (he’s only 9). The family didn’t have any insurance and still has a loan owing of over 00.

Lincoln made it through surgery with flying colors! They had to do something different then we had thought. The surgeon extended the old incision a little more to the left because the x ray showed a bubble over there. The bubble turned out to be a ball of bowel, stuck under another part of the bowel. As soon as he untangled it, gross as it is, the stoma started working! And because it released waste, and took a lot of pressure out of his tummy, his need for oxygen went way down! So overall he is doing really well, and he said hopefully he will soon be able to start feedings again. Praise God!

Prayers are still being said daily for all of our Trivia Friends and Family and hoping all will continue to get stronger as each day passes.

The bank bought back my house at a foreclosure auction on jan 14, 2010. They didnt send me a letter or put a letter on my door telling me about the auction date. Everything that I have read tells me that the bank needed to tell about the sale date ahead of time. Im still in my house know. Still no word from the bank. What options do I have?I also lost my job. Should I get a lawyer? I long can I stay in the house? When will a eviction letter show up? Some people tell me that they will give me 30 days to move out once the letter shows up, some people tell me 24 hrs once the letter shows up. What is the law in denver, colorado? In the foreclosure law summary it states that the public trustees office must also mail at lease 21 days before the foreclosure sale date a letter letting the homeowner know about the sale date. This didnt happen. There was no notifcation about a jan 14 sale date.

In July of 2005, my wife filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy. In her bankruptcy, she included a private student loan to SLM Corp on the order of 00. I am aware that government backed loans are not discharged in bankruptcy , but from my readings, private loans, such as the Signature Student Loan from the Sallie Mae subsidiary SLM Corporation were dischargeable before the enactment of the new bankruptcy laws in October of 2005. SLM is now attempting to collect on this loan, and is calling 5 times per day, refusing to provide requested documentation, and is in general being an @$$. How do we get SLM Corp to stop trying to collect on this debt? What’s the steps in filing the necessary paperwork with the bankruptcy court? Are there any Denver based attorneys willing to help us with this who read here?

Warning: RANT AHEAD: Read only if you want to hear another sob story about Sallie Mae and their downright abusive treatment of borrowers.

What’s truly rich about this is that my wife is still in school. All the options available to public loans, such as in-school deferment, Income Based Repayment and Income Contingent Repayment, hardship forbearance, unemployment forbearance, and so on which excuses the public student loans from being dischargeable are not available for this private loan. My wife is a full time student, and is living now on student loans while getting her master’s degree, but because of this early bachelors degree loan, she would have to contemplate dropping out of school and trying to find a job in this economy to pay this loan back, if she owed it.

All the lawyer firms locally say that they won’t touch the case because ‘Student Loans are not discharged in bankruptcy’. Yet online, there is site after site stating that non-governmental backed student loans only became non-dischargeable after the new bankruptcy laws of 2005. I’m hoping that I can find an attorney who can help us.

BTW, Sallie Mae? If any of your goons are reading this, perhaps they can take this message back to you. You know that nearly ,000 in student debt that you have that is Federally guaranteed? This summer, we’re consolidating it with the Federal Direct Loan my wife got last year. Say bye to all that interest. And I’m going to recommend this course of action for everyone who has a Federal loan through you.

which was the address for the debt in the year 2000, same first and last name, wrong address…we’ve been in Colorado since 1975. LIved in this house since 1991.
AT&T sold the debt to a law firm here in Denver. We demanded proof of the debt, they cancelled the court date four times , rescheduled it, but has not given us ANY proof that we could possibly owe this money.
As a retired school librarian, I don’t want to spend a bunch of money on a lawyer, but am so pissed at the hassle we’ve been put through would like to counter-sue for harassment. I don’t want to just settle this problem, I want reimbursement for the undue stress it’s put on my husband.

I am moving to Colorado at the end of January. I currently live in California, I’m 23, single, and a student, and am looking to live in an area where there is lots to do/lots of people my age. I’d ideally like to be able to step out of my apartment and walk to shops/food/parks, etc. I have family that lives in Highlands Ranch so that is why the Denver/Boulder area appeals to me. I’ve only been to Denver and Boulder a few times and have no idea where to even start looking. Any advice would be appreciated!!!

What rights do grandparents have in CO about seeing your grandchildren or get custody because my daughter’s husband keeps taking my daughter to drug houses which is his relatives or friends house and now they have my grandson which is just three weeks old. Most of my son-in-laws family including him have been in trouble with the law like one uncle is a rapist and one is a bank robber and etc. My daughter meet him online on a christian site because she was a christian until she met him now he has her going to drug parties with him but now I am worried about my grandson because of their lifestyle. I need a good lawyer for legal advice or any advice about where to start. They live in a small town above Denver,CO
Who could I get to talk to my daughter about leaving her husband for her babies sake and be his mother and she can come back home until she gets her life in order and back on track as long as it takes and we can help her with the baby as well. Not only are people wondering how Sen. John McCain and the GOP will have to alter the convention’s messages because of Hurricane Gustav and the painful reminders of 2005’s Hurricane Katrina, but there now are big questions about how the expected street protests will play out.

Local and national media outlets have reported that there have been multiple raids on places where anti-war protesters are gearing up for a massive rally Monday, just before the convention’s opening.

The Hill newspaper, citing the National Lawyer Guild (NLG), reports that the Ramsey County Sheriff’s office, which leads the local law enforcement effort, has raided at least three homes and made several arrests.

Minnesota Public Radio reported that authorities had seized gallons of urine, wrist rockets and kerosene – just the sort of unconventional weapons that were feared, but never emerged, during the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Protesters have vowed to go forward with a rally of tens of thousands of people on Monday, when President Bush had been scheduled to speak. (Bush’s appearance reportedly is in doubt due to the response to the hurricane.)

The RNC Welcoming Committee, an “anarchist/anti-authoritarian” group planning to “crash the convention,” has been giving regular updates on the protests – including names of those it says have been detained — through its web site, www.nornc.org,

The group’s web site promotes a whole host of protest activities planned for Sept. 1 to Sept. 4, saying: “the Republican Party is coming to Minnesota to celebrate their latest conquests in global domination and exploitation. We of the RNC Welcoming Committee want to make sure that this time the fear-mongers will be met with their own biggest fear: people mobilized, organized, and taking the future back into their own hands.”

Similar rhetoric was used by protest planners before the Democratic National Convention in Denver, where there were some high-profile confrontations between demonstrators and police but fewer arrests, conflicts and incidents than in past national party conventions.

Will higher tensions translate into more trouble during the RNC? Stay tuned.

I am trying to figure out how to file for bankruptcy in Denver Colorado. I cannot afford a lawyer, is there a way to get one appointed to me? If not how do I file by myself, where do I need to go to find out how to get started?

Well first a little background story, I live across the country on the East Coast and my cousin lives in Denver, for some time now I’ve been completely isolated from my family, I kind like being free from all the drama. I’m also sort of the black sheep. I managed to make something for myself: first one to attend and finish college, have a good paying job etc.

Now about my cousin, she’s my mom’s, brother’s daughter. She came here on a work visa from Mexico which expired. So for the last 10 years she’s been here illegally. She has 4 kids and was/is currently involved with the father of her youngest child who is like 9 months old. She got into a little spat with the father and it escalated to something violent. Trying to defend herself, he ended up with scratches, she ended up calling the police. However, instead of taking him in, they took her in because HE had the scratches.

Now it’s turned into an immigration matter, and there is no bail set, she’s at risk of being reported. However, her 4 kids are American citizens so what happens to them? Do they all get shipped back? I can only imagine the horror she feels not being able to see her babies.

The thing is, they think I’m rich, only I’m not. And now everyone in the family is calling ME to foot the bill for the lawyer.

So is there anyway to help her that doesn’t include anything monetary? Or can we say for now that she’s just simply screwed without a lawyer?

What does that mean? Illegals are stealing children? That’s not even relevant to my question.
For those who think they have to remind me that she was breaking the law, no need to thanks. I’m a very well aware of the laws, and was simply asking because I’ve been cornered by my family to at least make an attempt to help. Even though I know I can’t, at least I should try to express some sort of sympathy.

As I stated earlier I try very hard not to associate myself with them for this very reason. They are constantly having problems and always want me to help.

My BF and I had a domestic dispute and now his parents are harassing me. I have been calling the police and asking for a harassment report and a protection order on them and the police refuse to help – Good old Denver Police Department – and instead, they are treating me like a criminal. Currently there is a restraining order against my BF for me put on by the judge and I am not worried about him and the police are using it against me. Can somebody tell me what my rights are? I have contacted him a couple of times since the incident and met up with him to give him some of his things and the police are saying that I am going to go to jail for obstruction and lying. My understanding was, I could contact him but he could not contact me. I have talked to the DA, to the detectives, to the police and nobody will tell me what the truth is and if I am in the wrong. I am not afraid of him and have been friends with him for 14 years and we were only together for a year or so. His parents on the other hand I am afraid of and they will not leave me alone, they come to my house, I have called the police on them twice in a week and I am the one who gets interrogated and in trouble. And not one officer will let me file a harassment complaint. I even went as far as internal affairs and basically the sergeant told me to screw off and get a lawyer. I need to know if I can get in trouble for contacting my BF? I understand he will get in trouble if we are caught together but we are trying to keep this legit and fix all the legal stuff. The police are using the restraining order as a tool against me. After I know the truth about the restraining order, I plan on pursuing his parents and the Denver police. Thanks.
